By Netbooks Review

Last updated Jun 25, 2022

Mentorbox has exploded in popularity. Everywhere you turn, from YouTube to social media, their ads abound. The service seems to promise to make you smarter, unlocking the knowledge of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. But how does this service work and is Mentorbox legit? I wanted to find out, so I took a close look at what the company is selling to answer the question: is Mentorbox worth it?

To get to the bottom of this question I took a close examination of everything that Mentorbox offered, and combed through various reviews. Here’s what I found in my completely unbiased Mentorbox Review.

What Is Mentorbox?

Mentorbox is a monthly subscription service. What it offers in its subscription is knowledge. And it does this by providing book summaries. How this works is that the Mentorbox team combs through all the best books on a wide array of topics, including success, business, health and relationships and then condenses that information to the highlights and essentials.

The team even interviews some of the most famous authors, meaning that many of the summaries are coming direct from the source. This way you can acquire all of this incredible knowledge in just a few minutes instead of the days and weeks this would normally take.

Mentorbox subscriptions come in several different forms. There is the online version which you can access pretty immediately upon signing up. Then there is also the physical box. The actual box includes online access as well as 2 or 3 books (depending on which plan you buy).

Mentorbox at a Glance

  • What Is Mentorbox: A monthly subscription service for book summaries
  • Founders: Tai Lopez and Alex Mehr
  • Founded in 2016
  • Products Offered: Online subscription, a physical subscription including the MentorBox, and Theme Box.
  • Introductory Price: $1 for a 3-day trial
  • Regular Price: Starts at $7/month or $59/annual
  • Competitors: (to some extent) Audiobooks, Blinkist

How Much Does Mentorbox Cost?

Taking a look at what is Mentorbox, it actually sounds like a great idea. Authors participating in creating it include luminaries such as Arianna Huffington, Amy Cuddy, Cal Newport, and Mo Gawdat. The service promises to help you “Think like a CEO.” But of course, the big question is how much does it cost?

You can check out the service on a 3-day trial for $1. When you go to the website, you’ll get pop-ups that make you think the $1 free trial offer will expire soon, but you’ll be able to get it anytime.

After signing up for the trial, your subscription will automatically renew either monthly or annually. If you don’t want to pay any more than the $1 you have to make certain to cancel your subscription before the trial ends. You won’t get a reminder.

After the $1 trial, the basic cost is $7/month and $59/year. The average subscriber stays on for 3 to 6 months so Mentorbox is getting a great deal from people who sign up for the full year. The company promises a 30-day money-back guarantee if you are unsatisfied at the start of the subscription.

So with a cost of just $7 a month, it actually sounds like a great deal, especially if it really is helping you think like a CEO. But there are still two big questions to answer. Does Mentorbox really cost just $7 a month, and how good are the services that it actually delivers.

In asking those questions another really important one is raised:

Is Mentorbox Legit?

The first answer to this question comes by answering whether Mentorbox really only costs $7/month. The first sign that the product is actually going to cost more is the amount of upselling that happens upon signing up. And not only is there a whole lot of upselling, it happens in a haphazard way.

There are just a whole bunch of offers that come flying at you, dangling that this is only a special offer available to those signing up. First, it’s “Audiobook Nuggets,” a one-time offer for $89. Then up next it’s the “Entrepreneur Academy.” This is a low $19.95 comparatively and lowered from the “regular price of $169/month. The third and final introductory offer is membership in the “Money and Investment Club,” with a one-time price of $49 for new members.

So this can get a bit annoying, but you can also click through and skip to have the price remain the low $7/month. Of course, the next question in trying to determine is Mentorbox legit is figuring out the quality of the product.

A Mentorbox Review of the Quality

Mentorbox really does deliver when it comes to offering some high-powered authors. And this doesn’t just book summaries. Many include videos, worksheets, and “lessons.” In fact, the whole thing is on the Teachable platform, so it is somewhat like an online course. I say somewhat because it lacks the coherency of any real curriculum. Instead, it seems like little snippets of courses that aren’t very organized.

When signing on to Mentorbox, the experience can either feel overwhelming or disappointing. You’re immediately presented with a large selection of videos that cover a wide variety of topics. And when I say wide, I mean it. There’s everything from successful marketing techniques to how to mix a cocktail to classes on literature.

And some will feel overwhelmed by this, not knowing where to start, while others might feel disappointed by how few videos they have on the topic they are most interested in.

Additionally, the videos are all of varying quality. Some are shot quite professionally, while others seemed to be sloppily made with iPhones. There was definitely a correlation between how famous an author was and the video quality. But I’m just speaking on the technical level. Many authors were actually terrible at ‘teaching video courses.’

Another thing that bothered me about the videos was how much filler there seemed to be. There were a lot of videos made by the company founders that just felt inserted, and didn’t seem to serve much as a purpose besides taking up space.

Is Mentorbox Worth It?

There are a couple of reasons why I found Mentorbox to not be worth it, but there are some people for whom I’d definitely recommend it.

The first reason why I didn’t really find Mentorbox to be worth my time, was that I was most interested in reading about topics like marketing, and less about literature, especially in the Mentorbox summarizing format. When I broke down the videos to the ones I was most interested in, there actually weren’t too many to choose from.

Add to this that quality of those videos was completely inconsistent, with some shot unprofessionally, and others not offering any valuable information. On top of this, there wasn’t really a coherent course or structure of study.

And my second reason for feeling like Mentobox isn’t worth it for me? Well, at the end of the day, you just can’t beat a good book.

To truly learn the valuable lessons contained in great and important books there’s no real way around reading them. 3-5 minute snippets are definitely not going to supply a replacement there.

So who would I recommend Mentorbox to? Well if you’re the type of person who feels overwhelmed by the wide variety of topics available when you first sign up, this actually might be a great thing. While it might be annoying that there is no real guidance at where to begin, it’s a great way to find new topics that you might be interested in. In this way, it acts as an introduction to things you might want to learn more about. At $7/month that’s not a bad deal.

However, there is one aspect of Mentorbox that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. And that is the physical box. This costs a whopping $139/month and all you get is the exact same things available in the subscription box, plus 2 books and some unnecessary stuff. There are definitely better things to spend your money on, and the same books are available at much lower prices.

So overall, most people probably won’t find Mentorbox super useful, and it definitely won’t make you think like a CEO on its own, but some might find Mentorbox is worth it for 7 bucks a month.

The One Way to Make A Ton Of Money Online that You Won’t Find In Mentorbox

I completely get why you would consider Mentorbox.

I also know that in your heart of hearts the real thing you’re in search of is a way to get out of your current financial situation.

And wanting to seek out more information about business and entrepreneurship is a great place to start your journey of making money online.

But….

Stuff like Mentorbox is terrible for someone who has no idea how to even make a cent online.

It’s information overload.

What I wish I had when first started trying to make money back in high school was a step-by step program I could follow.

Basically, it was a business model I was aware of, but never really knew exactly how to execute something like that.

This is a quick overview of how the business works:

What is MLM Gateway?

It’s called “online billboards..”

It’s all about creating digital advertisements on Google and Facebook.

Let’s say Dan is a plumber. Dan currently has enough staff to handle around 50 more jobs per month.

However, not enough people call Dan for him to utilize his team to their full potential.

so here’s where we make our money….

We create “online billboards” looking for people who need a plumber.

Then we get a bunch of phone calls from people looking for a plumber.

Let’s say we can bring Dan $50,000 worth of business every month. He wouldn’t mind spending $5,000 (which goes to you) to get $50,000.

AND, if Dan doesn’t want to pay you $5,000… guess what

… there are 10 other plumbers in town with Dan that would take you up on that trade.

Not to mention the best part….

Once you get your whole system up and running, it literally just runs itself and you make money on repeat every month for a few hours of maintenance work on the ads.

This is seriously my #1 recommendation on starting a new online business.

There’s a lot more to it but I hope you get the idea. Click the button below to get started
