What is Monat?

Monat is a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that specializes in hair care products.

The MLM aspect means that the company sells these products through a network of independent distributors, rather than through traditional outlets and the like.

This opens an opportunity for ordinary people to earn money in two ways:

1. By selling the products
2. By referring others to the business opportunity so they do the same.

 

Monat MLM: A Lil’ Bit of Background

In 2001, Luis Urdaneta founded Leudine, a Latin American MLM company that sells health and beauty products.

Honestly, I don’t know if his smile relieves me or scares me.

Long story short, in 2008, Luis and his son, Ray Urdaneta, co-founded Alcora Corporation.

And they officially launched the Monat brand in 2014 under the Alcora Corporation umbrella.

Today, Alcora Corporation owns the following four brands

• Leudine
• B&R Products
• Beauty project
• Monat

The name Monat is a combination of modern nature.

Which represents the company’s approach to combining science with natural ingredients to create quality hair care products.

No product is perfect, but they must be doing something right.

Because they sell $100 million worth of these things every year.

Through their network of over 120,000 distributors in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

 

Monat Products: Are they worth buying?

Monat sells hair care products in the US, Canada, and the UK.

The products help people with just about any type of hair care you can think about.

There are dozens of individual hair care products. And most of these are classified into various collections and systems.

That caters to the different needs and wishes of the client.

Now, the real question is:

Do these products really work and are they worth it? Well, it depends on who you ask.

Of course, Monat and anyone promoting Monat will tell you that these products are amazing and that many people see real results.

(What do you want them to say?)

And according to the company’s website, the products are backed by science and they work so well because of the rich formulations they use.

But there’s definitely some controversy with the products.

For example, a 2018 ABC 13 news report says FDA dispatched inspectors to Monats Florida facilities after consumer complaints about hair loss and scalp sores mounted.

This doesn’t mean that the products are a scam.

But it seems that some people are having an adverse reaction to them.

However, Monat stands behind its products.

Claiming that they are victims of falsehoods and even going so far as to sue some people for defamation.

In any case, I’m not a hair care professional. So I cannot advise you on how legit these products are one way or another.

That’s something you will have to decide for yourself.

What I can say is that before you run off and start selling them to your friends and family, it can help you to do your homework and be careful!

• They have a wide network of distributors worldwide.
• They’ve proven to be a legit company.
• All of their products are backed up by science. 
• There are actual good opportunities to make an extra income with them. 

Cons     

• There have been some controversies regarding their products -they’ve even been investigated by the FDA. 
• You won’t get rich with their system. 

Monat MLM Compensation Plan – How to Make Money as a Distributor

The US haircare market is worth an estimated $47 billion (and growing), and Monat is making the most of this.

So there’s definitely an opportunity for distributors to make money.

And as a Monat distributor (AKA Market Partner), you can make money selling the company’s hair care products and recruiting others to do the same.

Monat’s official compensation plan outlines the ways you can earn and how much you can earn.

And in this section, I’m going to break this down so you know what to expect.

How can you become a distributor?

To become a Monat distributor, you must buy a $99 Starter Kit OR one of four product packs:

• Starter kit $99
• Essentials Pack $199
• Business Product Pack $299
• Successful Products Pack $399
• Overachiever Product Pack $649

The starter kit comes with product samples and marketing materials to get you started.

While each product pack comes with the starter kit and some additional products.

To become a market partner (the first rank you can achieve as a distributor) you must buy $200 or more.

What means to buy a pack of essentials or higher.

So even though you can technically only buy the $ 99 kit, it won’t qualify you for commissions.

First trap!

In total, there are 11 rows of distributors within Monat Global:

• Market partner
• Market Managing Partner
• Associate Market Builder
• Market Builder
• Market Builder Manager
• Associate Market Mentor
• Market mentor
• Market management mentor
• Associate Executive Director
• Executive Director
• Senior Executive Director

Each higher rank takes more to qualify and pays better commissions and bonuses.

Basically, the more products you sell and the more people you recruit, the higher your rank and the more money you can earn.

Ways to earn money

There are several ways to earn money within the compensation plan:

• Selling Products

Monat pays up to 40% commissions for the products it personally sells.

The amount you earn from each sale depends on whether or not you are selling to a retail or VIP customer.

• Sale to retail customers

Monat pays 30% commissions on retail product orders.

This is anyone who visits your replicated site and makes a purchase through you.

And you can earn an additional bonus commission based on how much you sell

1,000 to 1,999 PV qualifies you for an additional 3% commission (33% total)

2,000 to 3,499 PV qualifies you for an additional 5% commission (35% total)

3,500 PV or more qualifies you for an additional 10% commission (40% total)

PV stands for personal volume and a set amount of PV is associated with each product and product packaging.

• Sale to VIP clients

VIP customers are customers who pay a fee of $19.99 and agree to purchase at least three flexible orders (orders that cost $ 84 or more each).

The benefit is receiving a 15% discount on retail prices, free shipping on qualifying orders, and some free products.

Winning from your VIP clients is a bit different too.

Instead of getting a 30% commission, you only get 15% commission on orders placed by your VIP clients.

However, the additional PV bonuses remain the same.

And when you refer 4 or more VIP clients in a calendar month, you earn a $60 bonus.

There is no limit to how many times you can win this.

• Unilevel Downline Commissions

This is where the MLM aspect comes into play.

Every time you recruit someone, they’re placed in your downline by one level.

This downline puts you at the top, your direct referrals to your level 1, your referrals go to your level 2, and so on, 4 levels deep and infinitely wide.

Market partners earn commissions of 7% of the sales volume of their level 1 referrals only.

While Market Management Partners earn 10% on level 1 and 3% on their level 2 recruits.

The higher your rank, the higher your commission percentages and the more levels you can earn.

This is how most MLM companies actually work.

• Group volume bonus

This is a bonus paid to distributors of Managing Market Builder and above.

If you qualify, you pay a 2% commission based on the sales volume between you and the next Managing Market Builder in your downline.

• Rank Advancement Bonus

Rank Advancement Bonuses pay Market Management Partners and above between $ 100 and $ 20,000 depending on the rank they advance to.

Also, the company pays bonuses when your referrals reach certain ranges.

• Motor Club voucher

The Motor Club bonus pays between $ 500 and $ 1,000 per month to affiliates classified Market Mentor and above, which can be used towards the purchase of a vehicle.

• Generation Bonus

This works in the same way as the Group Volume Bonus that I explained earlier.

Except this is only available to Associate Market Mentor affiliates and above and pays 3% to 4% commissions for 5 generations.

Bonuses

Bonuses are all about helping new distributors make profits faster.

Smart Bonuses

There are four Smart Start Bonuses in total and they apply during the first month of Marketing Partners enrollment, plus the next two calendar months only.

1- VIP acquisition bonus

These are the same VIP client commissions I told you about before.

Basically, you earn $60 every time you sign up 4 VIP clients and you can sign up as many as you want.

2- Block bonus

When you sign up four VIP customers and a marketing partner purchasing a product bundle, this forms a lock.

And each block pays $150.

3- Monatborhood Bonus

Don’t ask me what the hell is that name for a bonus, cause I have no idea.

But this pays you a bonus of $500 for every 3 blocks you have (12 VIP customers and 3 market partners who buy a product package).

4- Matching smart start bonus

Every time one of your referrals, who is within their SMART Start period, earns a Block Bonus, you earn a commission of $75.

Product bundle bonuses

When you refer a market partner to buy a product pack (instead of just a normal starter kit) you’ll get a bonus depending on which of the following product packs you buy:

• Essentials Package $50 commission
• Business product package $100 commission
• Successful Product Package $120 Commission
• Overachiever Product Pack $230 Commission

 

Is Monat a Legit Business?

The short answer is yes, it’s a legit company: You can earn money as a Monat distributor.

In fact, you could make a lot of money from a business like this over time, if you recruit enough people and make enough sales.

But…

…Time for a reality check:

Most people won’t generate life-changing income.

This is because most people sign up, buy some products, pitch to friends and family, and barely get their money back.

Typical scenario within the MLM world.

It’s not that you can’t be successful, or that they’re trying to sell you a huge scam.

It’s that you really need to be the type of person who loves networking and constantly talks to people about the opportunity.

If you are not doing this, you won’t get very far.

I don’t care what they say, most of the money within MLM is made by recruiting people.

Therefore, you must become a recruiting machine if you want to be successful.

The best alternative is to learn how to market online a service that cannot fail.

Does it exist?

Sure, how do you think I get my pockets fat as I write this?

Lead generation with ads is not as complicated as MLM. Actually, it is not complicated at all. You just need a laptop, a phone and want all the companies out there to know you.

You make them earn money, and they make you earn money.

 

Conclusion

Monat is a legit company with legit products in a profitable and growing niche.

So, for the right person who’s willing to put in the time and effort, there’s money to be made as a distributor.

That being said, I’m not sure I’d recommend it personally either.

I don’t recommend MLM companies in general. Because I think there are better business models.

Monat doesn’t look like something that can change your life without tons of effort, time, and money. If that sounds like something you’d like, then check this.
